There are many reasons we continue our love affair with the Kick Ranch Petite Sirah. 2009 Cemetery

The 2009 Cemetery is the seventh vintage of this favorite of ours and as usual, it continues to impress. The texture is super dense and concentrated, but the integrated tannins and balanced acidity keep it from going over the top. The nose is sweet and creamy, with ripe blackberries and rhubarb pie, leading to flavors of mocha, vanilla and pain grille. This wine is vibrant and beautiful in its purity. The finish has a lush liquory sweetness of cassis and toasted almonds. This wine is unreal in it confluence of power and elegance.

2008 Ode to Picasso

This is a bittersweet moment for us as we have reached the final Ode to Picasso from Behrens & Hitchcock. Beautifully dark purple yet vibrant, with a rich texture that is soft and full, the wine offers up aromas of espresso, toasty oak and crème brulee, and flavors of juicy blueberries, white pepper and dark cocoa. Floral notes and dark chocolate linger on the palette. It is a swan song that hits all of the right notes. A lovely tribute to a much-loved cat and wine.
